I saw a comic strip from another webcomic where an established nerd character expressed the same complaints about people who complain about The Book of Boba Fett. I felt that character expressing those complaints was disingenuous because of his past rabid fandom towards Star Wars. If anything that character would be more likely to be one of the voices complaining about The Book of Boba Fett. I created this comic because I found the other comic ridiculous. This comic is parodying that comic. My character Grouser hasn’t been featured in many comic strips over the years here and his complaints in this strip are out of character for him. Grouser is the type of character that if he likes a TV show then he’ll watch it. If he thinks it’s dumb he’s not going to watch it. He certainly isn’t going to throw a temper tantrum over it.
This comics marks one year of consecutive weekly comic strips posted on this site which was a goal that I set out to do in 2021. I’m very happy to have reached this goal.
Episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett is the best episode of the series so far. Coincidentally, Boba Fett isn’t in it and it’s an episode that is all about Mando from the Mandalorian and half of the episode is about fixing a star cruiser so that Mando has a new ship. Guess it lets you know that the bar for Boba Fett is pretty low if this counts as the best episode so far.
A few weeks ago I made this comic strip about The Babylon Bee firing Ethan Nicolle. I found out what The Babylon Bee had to say on their forum about Ethan being let go and since it’s been a while I’ve had some time organize my thoughts and I have 8 final thoughts:
- I don’t know anyone who is involved personally so it’s not worth getting upset about.
- It could have been handled better by both sides and both sides should have expected blow back because of the abruptness of the firing. (A.) The Babylon Bee should have given Ethan a severance package that was conditional on him signing a non disclosure agreement. (B.) Ethan shouldn’t have posted so much on social media or talked about it on the Audio Mullet podcast. It is never a good idea to publicly bash your former employer.
- I became a subscriber for The Lord of the Rings podcast which didn’t feature Ethan. It would be ridiculous for me to cancel my subscription because of this.
- Despite misgivings about The Babylon Bee’s management and HR practices, The Babylon Bee, the podcast, and it’s community help and encourage a lot of people, including me. Instead of making the Bee look worse we should help them get better. Maybe I can talk my wife, an HR professional, into giving them some free advise. Maybe they can be convinced to take some management development courses.
- I mentioned Pints with Jack before. Both Pints with Jack and The Babylon Bee are worthy of your support. Wear you “Mount Writemore” t-shirt while drinking coffee from your Pints with Jack coffee mug.
- Part of the fun of The Babylon Bee is submitting headlines. “Christian Band Deconstructs Drum Set But Can’t Put It Back Together Again”. C’mon, that’s comedy gold.
- The Babylon Bee has had alot more Christian based satire articles lately. Frankly, I’ve been enjoying it more.
- Ethan Nicolle is super talented and will be successful wherever he lands. (He got a job with The Daily Wire).
